Lesson 5 - Lesson Assessment: Competency Checklists
Upon completion of this portion of the module, you will:
Understand lesson assessment through the use of competency checklists
Lesson Assessment: Competency Checklists
The final aspect of lesson planning is assessing what has been learned. Brief competency-based checklists can be developed to do this. Competencies refer to the tasks and activities. Was the student able to complete the task or activity successfully? For any competency there will be pre-requisites, sometimes called sub-competencies, that the learner should have to enable success with the activity. These skills and abilities are not taught as part of the activity but expected that the learner already possesses. Each activity also requires basic reading and/or math abilities in order to be successful. The examples below illustrate these three concepts.
Complete the following activity by dragging the information from the word bank and placing it in the check lists. Only the correct ones will stay, and incorrect answers will go back to the word bank. After you have completed the competency list, a word bank will appear next to sub-competencies, and after completing that list, a final word bank will appear for basic skills.
